This means supporting them with home and social tasks and typically includes the following:

Home » Homecare Package level 1
  • Personal care: As we age, it can be difficult to take care of our own personal hygiene. As such, this level includes assistance with the likes of bathing, dressing, getting up in the morning and taking medication.
  • Home assistance: This typically includes chores around the home like cleaning, gardening and general maintenance. We will happily provide as much or as little assistance as you loved one requires to live comfortably in a clean and well-maintained home.
  • Meal prep: If your loved one enjoys making delicious feasts but has a little difficulty today then we can help with that, too. We can be there to provide assistance with their cooking or, if cooking is not their thing, we can provide a complete meal prep program full of deliciously nutritious meals.
  • Social support: Is your loved one a regular at the bowls club? Or, do they love catching up with the girls for a coffee? If so, we are here to provide a social support service that will keep them in touch with friends and the wider community.
  • Transport: Driving can become more difficult as we age, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have plenty of things to do! As such, our compassionate experts can provide transport for everything from grocery shopping to social events and more.

Level 1 HCP FAQs

Home Care Packages (HCP) are designed to provide highly-affordable in home assistance for elderly Australians. This naturally includes essential services like cleaning, home and garden maintenance, nursing, social support, transportation and more. The desired goal of an HCP is to help your loved one live a full and enriching life with as little or as much support as they need at home and in public.

Our HCP are government-subsidised, though you may still have to cover some of the costs of your package and this depends on your financial situation. You can choose who provides the in home care assistance whilst allocating your HCP funds towards the services your loved needs to live fully and independently in home.

You must first apply for an evaluation to determination your loved one’s eligibility for receiving an HCP. This is done through the government My Aged Care website, where can apply online or call their number on 1800 200 422. Throughout the assessment, your loved one will be required to answer some questions about their current health and living situation, and whether they assistance with typical tasks like cleaning and home maintenance. You will also be required to provide your Medicare information.

Once your application is completed, an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) will contact you to arrange an in-home visit. They will speak with your loved one about their health concerns, in-home needs and any difficulties they may with daily chores and tasks. They will then determine your relative’s level of eligibility and what government-subsidied package they can receive to live comfortably at home.
